Does Sir Alan fancy hanging with Bertie & Jack?

So, I've done it. I've applied for next year's Apprentice. I have no idea whether my application will get any further than a researcher at the production company, but hey you gotta be innit to winnit (so I hear).

I now find myself asking the question - why? Why would I want to be shacked up with a bunch of  hot-headed, power hungry, crazy suits? Couple of reasons: I'd like to prove a point that to be successful in business you don't need to be all of the above. Success is actually possible by maintaining a few good old-fashioned traits. Allow me to introduce you to our good friends 'understanding', 'organised' and 'friendly'. With these three buddies in your business kit bag you won't go wrong.

The second reason, Bertie & Jack would bloody love a £250k investment. We'd never forget our market stall roots but we'd leap at the chance of retail space with heat...toilet facilities...a kettle!

So, who knows whether I'll make it through to the next round but it's worth a crack. I'll keep you posted.

London Calling.

Hello. This is the very first Bertie & Jack blog post bought to you on a rather wet and grey Sunday. Still, the bad weather is a good excuse to lounge about in comfy slacks, drinking tea and dunking biscuits.

Well, where do I begin with this blogging business? How about what we've been up to? Bertie & Jack has had a busy old week. We were up at Spitalfields Market on Thursday - was great to be up in London, but the 8 hours in the car was a little frustrating  (note to selves, take train in future). On the plus side, we did see every tourist hotspot imaginable en route: Buckingham Palace,  Tower of London et al were all viewed as we drove by slower than a stoned snail.

Aside from the journey, Spitalfields was not quite all we had it cracked up to be. We'd heard echos of it 'not being like it used to be' and perhaps we should have paid more heed to the word on the street. It really isn't the buzzy, arty, trendy space of yesteryear. Perhaps it's different on a Sunday? Still, we had a giggle and my favorite saying was frequently recited throughout the day - 'You don't know 'til you try'. And hey, we're always up for trying something new with the business and spreading the Bertie & Jack love as far and wide as possible. We shall definitely be back in London soon, but are going to have a play around with locations. We're not giving up on the big smoke that easily.

Happy sleepy, soggy Sundaying.
